This month we are celebrating 15 years of Ottobre Magazine with 15 Portuguese bloggers and I'm one of them. I still can't believe I'm one of THEM. Have you seen the amazing things they have done so far? Beautiful stuff I wished I had in my daughter’s closet!!! That's an amazing thing about this group, we are so different and yet we respect and love each other’s style so much! 

Para celebrar os 15 anos da revista Ottobre, 15 bloguers portuguesas resolveram fazer um molde da revista e entre elas estou eu. Às vezes ainda não acredito que estas mulheres são minhas amigas e que eu estou entre elas! Vocês já viram as coisas magnificas que elas têm feito? Tudo coisas fantásticas que eu adorava ter no armário das minhas filhas! Estar neste grupo é uma coisa maravilhosa, somos tão diferentes e mesmo assim conseguimos respeitar e gostar do estilo de cada uma. 

I wanted to make something for both my daughters and since I only have 2 magazines, well I have 3 but one is the women’s issue (can't wait to try some for me!), I had to choose wisely because it had to fit them both! I chose the Fruity Flowers pants from summer 3/2015. Both fabrics are from this amazing online store. I'm using a light blue jersey and a mustard viscose jersey fabric that has a great touch! Because I didn't use a thick jersey they have this really slouchy look that I love...  

Eu queria fazer algo para as minhas duas piolhas e visto que só tenho duas revistas, aliás, tenho três, mas uma é de mulher (estou desejosa de fazer algo para mim), tive que pensar muito bem. Escolhi as calças Fruity Flowers da revista de verão 3/2015. Ambos os tecidos são de uma loja online muito boa. Estou a usar uma malha (jersey) azul muito leve e uma malha com viscose em cor mostarda que têm um toque fabuloso. Por ter escolhido estes tecidos, mais leves do que o normal, as calças ficaram com um ar super descontraído que eu adoro.

Can you tell they also loved having matching pants? ;-)

Planos: Plans

Já vos contei que tenho grandes planos para umas roupinhas feitas aqui por mim? E moldes, já vos contei que tenho moldes? E tecidos lindos, também já vos contei? Pois é, tenho isso tudo. Só falta mesmo tempo para coser. Ter um bebé pequeno 24/7 comigo, uma criança ainda pequena, trabalhar a partir de casa e trabalhar em casa (muita louça suja e roupa para lavar?...nem vos conto!), um pouco de jardinagem e muita refeição para fazer, deixam-me muito pouco tempo para isto da costura que tanto gosto. E, por vezes, quando tenho um pouco de tempo estou demasiado cansada. E...quando estou demasiado cansada, uso quase tanto o descosedor como a máquina de costura. Por favor, digam-me que isto também vos acontece de vez em quando...
De qualquer forma, eu só sei trabalhar estabelecendo objectivos. Por isso eu fiz uma lista! Preparadas?
Para mim a Marthe (e se for amor, faço uma quantidade delas ;-)), o vestido Inari em ganga e manga três quartos (como eu lhe chamo, a meio caminho) ou comprida (já fiz um no verão mas não puliquei fotos). Para a Miss Caracolinhos uma camisola Bimaa (ou talvez mais, adoro aquele molde), um vestido mini-Marthe e uma blusa também para fazermos conjunto (sim, tornei-me nesse tipo de mãe, rezem só para eu não encontrar um tecido que goste que dê para as duas).  Para a Sarita umas calças da Puperita (e a blusa também muito provavelmente) e o Tiny Mice dress. Para o meu homem lindo, vou fazer a camisola Paxson, um dos ultimos moldes da Seamwork.
Eu disse que tinha planos... ;-) Vamos ver se consigo fazer isto antes que 2016 comece! ah ah ah ah (riso malvado aqui)

Ohhh boy I've got plans! And patterns! And fabric! Have I said that I´ve got plans, patterns and fabric? I did? ... Well, the only thing missing is TIME. Having a small baby at home with me, a small child, working at home (job) and working at home (two kids, lots of cleaning to do and don't get me talking about laundry), a bit of gardening an lots of cooking leave me very little sewing time. And, sometimes, when I do have a bit of time I'm too tired. And when I'm too tired, I normally use the seam ripper as much as the sewing machine. Can someone relate to this?
Nevertheless, establishing goals is the way I work so I made plans. Lots of plans.
For me I'm going to make the Marthe blouse and if I like it (on me that is), I'll make more than one, it seems one of those really fast sews. I'm going to make the Inari Tee dress in denim and lenght the sleeve (I made one in black jersey this summer but never blogged about it).
For my Miss Caracolinhos one Bimaa sweater (or maybe more, I just love this pattern), a mini-marthe dress and a blouse too so we can go matchy-matchy (yes, I've become that kind of mother, let's just hope I don't find a fabric I like for both of us... ah ah ah). For baby Sara one of Puperita patterns, these pants (look at that shirt, I have it too ;-)) and the Tiny Mice dress... For my beautiful man I'm hoping I can find the perfect fabric to make him one Paxson, one of Seamwork recent patterns.
I told you I've got plans! ;-) Let´s just hope I can do it before 2016 starts! ;-) ah ah ah (this is an evil laughter)

Quilt love

Acabei o quilt para a Sara. A sensação é fantástica. Acho que até fiz uma mini happy-dance. Parece tolice mas quando passamos tanto tempo a fazer uma coisa, quando lhe metemos tanto amor e dedicação e finalmente a vemos pronta, é uma sensação de concretização (e alivio enorme ... ah ah ah) que nos invade. 

Não podia estar mais satisfeita com a compra que fiz à Constança. Os tecidos são de uma qualidade maravilhosa, as cores são fortes, vibrantes e o toque super suave, o ideal para um quilt para bebé. Vale a pena investir numa peça destas, não só em tempo e dedicação mas também na escolha de materiais. Recomendo os quilts dela para quem nunca fez um porque vem com uma boa parte do trabalho feito, vem com instruções fáceis de seguir e muito completas e, sem dúvida, que também os recomendo para quem já fez um pelos materiais que ela usa (o kit até inclui uma agulha e um CD), pelas cores, pelo resultado final que vale tão a pena! Talvez seja por isso que ela os vende tão depressa... ;-) 

I finished the quilt for Sarah. The feeling is fantastic. I think I even made a mini happy dance. Sounds silly but when we spend so much time doing one thing when we put so much love and dedication in it and it's finally ready, it's a sense of achievement (and huge relief ... ah ah ah) that invades us.

I could not be happier with the purchase I made to Constança. The fabrics are of a wonderful quality, the colors are strong, vibrant and with a super soft touch, ideal for a baby quilt. It is worth the investing, not only in time and dedication but also in what regards the choice of materials. I recommend her kit quilts for those who never made one because it comes with a good deal of work done, comes with easy to follow and complete instructions and undoubtedly I also recommend them to anyone who has made one already because of the materials she uses (the kit even includes a needle), the colors, the end result is so worth it!

Mudei. A morada continua a mesma mas a pintura da casa é diferente. 

Há seis meses nasceu a Sara e o nosso pequeno mundo cresceu, aumentou, expandiu. E, se na altura não houve tempo nem genica para mudar o penteado por aqui, passados 6 meses tinha mesmo que ser. 

E que tal... 3 + 1, parece-vos bem?

I Changed. The address remains the same but the house painting is different.
Six months ago Sara was born and our small world grew, increased, expanded. And if at that moment there was no time or will to change the hairstyle here, after 6 months we had to make time for it.

How about it ... 3 + 1, do you like it?

Eu tenho duas Saras que nada são iguais... :-) It's a long love story.

Quando descobri o blogue da Sara, o Made by Sara?  
O blogue da Sara foi um dos primeiros blogues de costura que comecei a ler quando comecei nesta coisa dos blogues, tinha o pequeno mundo a 3 apenas algumas semanas de vida. Foi amor à primeira vista e tornei-me sua fã muito rapidamente.

When did I discovered Sara's blog, Made by Sara?

Sara's blog was one of the first sewing blogs I started reading when I started participating in this world of blogs, Pequeno Mundo a 3 had only some weeks of existence. It was love at first sight and I became her admirer very quickly.

O que gosto mais no seu blogue?

Gosto mesmo de muitas coisas. Desde o seu sentido apurado de estilo à forma como escreve. A Sara é uma mulher muito inteligente e isso transparece não só na sua escrita como nas escolhas de tecidos que faz, no styling das fotos que tira, nos projectos que aborda (viram a série internacional com o tema Alice no pais das Maravilhas que ela organizou? Lindo!), nas aventuras a que se entrega. Gosto também de ler a Sara quando fala dos filhos, nas entrelinhas da costura, porque se sente aquele amor enorme que ela lhes tem, é muito bonito.

What I like most in her blog?

I really like a lot of things. From her keen sense of style to the way she writes. Sara is a very intelligent woman and that shows not only in her writing but also in the fabric choices she makes, in the styling of the photos she takes, in the projects that she embraces (did you saw the international series with the theme Alice in Wonderland she organized ? Beautiful!), the adventures that she undertakes.

I also love to read Sara when she speaks of her children in between the seam lines, because you can feel that enormous love she has for them, it´s a very beautiful thing to share with others.

O meu projecto favorito entre as centenas de coisas que ela já fez?

Esta é talvez a pergunta mais difícil porque a Sara tem feito coisas maravilhosas por isso vou fazer isto de forma mais solta, tipo brainstorming. O Ishi dela estava fantástico, um dos melhores que já vi! Este Franklin dress, este Blake dress, este Sunday Picnic Dress que eu me voluntariei para receber em minha casa quando ela já não o quisesse, este casaco que eu era capaz de usar de tão lindo que ficou, este Ash jumpsuit está fantástico...

Entre as peças que fez para si o meu voto vai para o Delilah top e este top que ela desenhou! Acho que não vou continuar porque acredito que já perceberam. (Além disso reparem bem que ela também tem uma boa coleção de sapatos vermelhos como eu ;-) E que tal uma série Feiticeiro de Oz a seguir Sara? E não te esqueças de me convidar ;-))

My favorite project among the hundreds of things she has done?

This is perhaps the most difficult question because Sara has done wonderful things so I will do this more loosely, brainstorming type. Her Ishi dress was fantastic, one of the best I've ever seen! This Franklin dress, this Blake dress, this Sunday Picnic Dress I volunteered to accept in my house when she no longer wanted it, this jacket that I would use myself so beautiful it was, this Ash jumpsuit that is fantastic ...

Among the pieces that she made for her my vote goes to the Delilah top and this top she drew herself! I think I will not continue because I believe you have all understood my love for her sewing. (Notice she also has a good collection of red shoes like me;-) Maybe a Wizard of Oz series next Sara? And please do invite me ;-)

Obrigada! Quero agradecer-te, Sara, por seres tão generosa com o teu tempo, com o teu conhecimento, com a tua amizade. Tem sido um privilégio conhecer-te e aprender contigo. Que tenhas um dia extra especial e que eu possa contribuir um pouco para isso.

Thank you so much! I want to thank you, Sara, for being so generous with your time, with your knowledge, with your friendship. It has been a privilege to meet you and learn from you. That you have an extra special day and that I can contribute a little to this.

E agora a parte boa. O presente que eu vou oferecer à Sara ;-) ah ah ah Estava a brincar! Decidir o que oferecer à Sara foi difícil. Ela é mestre de costura, tem os tecidos mais bonitos e as revistas e livros mais apetecíveis por isso ganhei coragem e resolvi fazer algo que espero que ela não tenha ainda: um kit de costura para levar na mala quando se vai de viagem. Vá lá Sara, diz lá que não tens! ;-) Tem uma tesoura e um descosedor, linhas e botões (brancos, pretos e cinza), uma fita métrica, agulhas, alfinetes-dama e uns em coração que são mais bonitos que úteis mas a que eu não resisti.. o básico para que a Sara possa resolver uma emergência ou simplesmente matar saudades da costura quando longe da sua máquina. ;-) 

And now for the good part. My gift to Sara;-) ah ah ah Just kidding! Deciding what to give Sara was difficult. She is a sewing master, has the finest fabrics, the most desirable books and magazines so I gained courage and decided to do something that I hope she has not: a sewing kit to carry in your handbag when you go away. Come on Sara say that you don't! ;-) It has scissors and a seam ripper, lines and buttons (white, black and gray), a measuring tape, needles, pins and heart shapped pins that are more beautiful than useful but I could not resist .. the basics so that Sara can solve an emergency or simply pacify her homesick heart when away from her sewing machine. ;-)

Ps- Juntei uns botões dos meus porque sei que ela vai adorar.

6 meses e um mosaico

Sara. 

Seis meses. 

Nem acredito que já passaram 6 meses desde o dia que te cheirei, senti, apertei pela primeira vez. 

Estás tão crescida. 

De costas direitas olhas o mundo e insistes em ficar sentada, deitada é coisa para bebés. 

Estás sempre a exibir essas gengivas desdentadas e rapidamente amoleces o coração de quem chega perto de ti.
Sorris quando acordas e nos encontras ao teu lado.

Os teus pés e as tuas mãos tão gordinhas são a minha perdição.
Gritas para que a nossa Miss Caracolinhos te olhe e para ela estás sempre pronta a rir. 

Agarras o meu pescoço e encostas a cabeça naquele espaço mesmo por baixo da clavícula que eu suspeito que tenha sido feito só para isso.
Agradeço hoje seis meses de ti meu amor tão pequenino. 

Irmã mais velha

A minha Miss Caracolinhos é uma irmã mais velha maravilhosa. Quero nunca esquecer-me disso. Quero que ela o saiba. Mas, do alto dos seus três anos, sei que o vai esquecer com facilidade mesmo que lho repita muitas e muitas vezes. Espero que o sentimento não desapareça, que esse ela não o esqueça quando já não se lembrar das minhas palavras. 

A bebé Sara não gosta de andar de carro. Nada. Chora muito e eu sofro com ela. Não adianta parar o carro, cantar, falar com ela que o choro continua. Então, no meio do meu desespero, é ela, a mana mais velha, que canta para a pequena Sara, é ela que lhe dá a mão e, quando eu me emociono com isto, é ela que diz «Não chores mãe, temos que acalmar a Sara». Tão crescida está a minha filha e que coração tão grande ela tem. Impressionante como uma voz tão pequenina pode acalmar dois corações que sofrem.
